Papers include letters received, 1848-1859, concerning teaching, marriages of friends, family news, and social life; love letters between Higgins and Sarah M. Conklin while he was in Maine, 1857; autograph letters to Higgins from political and public figures, 1863-1910; deed to his land in Maine, 1865; and certificates and memorabilia, ca. 1860-1912. Other items included are school papers of Sarah M. Conklin, 1852-1853, issue of "The Chip Basket" published by students at Conklin's school, 1857, and photographs of Sarah Conklin Higgins, 1892; marriage announcement of Myra Higgins and Fred Baldwin; and World War I letters to Nathalie Baldwin from Courtney B. Groser, 1918.
